Deciding to embark upon a Treasure trail clue can take you minutes or hours to finish depending on the type of clue you get and your own abilities. Some will require you to venture into the Wilderness, so be prepared! Some will require you to search out specific items to equip. In the end, the lure of rare treasure has drawn many players to scout the lands of Runescape for that hidden casket containing untold wealth.

For Coordinate clues, the following is necessary: a Watch, a Sextant, a Chart, and a Spade.
For Emote clues, each clue will specify what items are needed to be equipped.

- 64 Magic - To be able to use all regular teleport spells.
- 43 Prayer - To be able to use Protect from magic, missiles, and melee.
- 54 Runecrafting - To be able to craft your own laws.

- Runes or Tablets to teleport
- Teleportation jewelry (a Ring of dueling; Amulet of glory (4), and a Games necklace (8))
- Food (For some high level clues, you may need to fight a Saradomin wizard, Zamorak wizard or Double agent.)
- Anti-poison (For fighting some Saradomin wizard, Zamorak wizard, and to ward off revenants)
- Armor
- Weapon (Necessary for fighting a Saradomin wizard or Double agent.)
- A Prayer potion
- Weight-reducing items: Boots of lightness, Spotted cape or Spottier cape, and Penance gloves
- Forinthry bracelet - helps to counteract the teleblock spell from revenants, when in the low level wilderness

All clues are received from a RANDOM monster drop.
There are three levels of difficulties of clues:
Level 1 = Easy
Level 2 = Medium
Level 3 = Difficult
Some monsters will drop specific levels of clues. (NOTE: Even though a monster is listed to drop a clue in the Monsters Database, it may take thousands of kills before you get one.) To increase your chances of getting a clue, you may try wearing a Ring of wealth. Usually, just having patience and a little luck is all you need. Along with the different levels, there are specific types of clues:

This guide provides complete solutions to the clues, so please be aware that it may contain spoilers. It can be difficult to search for the clue you are working on manually, most browsers will have a "Find" function, where you can type in words or phrases to help you find the clue you are working on. Simply use the "CTRL + F" feature and search for keywords or phrases. There are also many links coded into this guide that lead you to the RuneHQ Databases or Guides to give you more details on how to find the place or person you are seeking. Getting as much information before you start, can save you a lot time.
Anytime you want to start doing a treasure trail, all you have to do is kill monsters until you get a clue drop. When you get a clue drop, it is recommended that you go to your bank and deposit it right away. If you get a clue drop during a slayer task, it may be best to complete the clue before finishing the task, as you have a chance of getting more clues before you complete your task.
First read the clue, so that you know what type of clue it is. Remember that even though this guide tells you where to go specifically for coordinate clues, you still need to carry your Watch, Sextant, and Chart in your inventory. Gather the items you need. Then head to the spot indicated by the clue. When you get to the spot specified by the clue you will get a casket. This casket will either contain treasure or another clue. So basically, follow each clue you get until you get a treasure. It's that simple!
To figure out these clues, you will have to rearrange the letters to find the name of the person you need to speak to.

When you get these clues, a NPC will ask you to solve the puzzle for them. Open the puzzle, and move the tiles around until it forms the complete picture. You can only move tiles into the empty space and if you close the puzzle before you complete it, you will start over.

Solving Puzzles:
The following basic technique will help you solve any of the puzzle challenges given to you. The general idea is to start at the top and work your way to the bottom of the puzzle. You only need to learn the order of the pieces and get them in in that order. The first piece correctly placed must be Red 1 (as marked in the image above), then Red 2, and work your way to Pink 5. Getting each section in order is becomes more difficult as you work your way to the end. If you happen to mess around with the puzzle making it unsolvable, then log out and start again.

If you can follow this technique successfully, the puzzle almost just solves itself. If you are having some difficulties getting pieces in the correct order, then here are some to help you follow the technique laid out in the previous section.
There is no way you will get 4 and 5 in place unless you do them together, consecutively. You have Red 1, 2, 3 and 4 in position. Unless you have the black space available, where 5 is meant to go, you cannot get 5 in without moving 4. Therefore, you need to move them both in together. This may seem very obvious but is the hardest step of a puzzle, especially near the end. Here is an example.
Here are Blue 1 and 2. Once you get to this stage it is becoming more easier to solved the puzzle. However again, this position shown is essential. Moving pieces around lots of times, often helps. Do not stick to moving only the pieces you need to place, move every unplaced piece.
Sometimes it is worthwhile, to move pieces that you have already placed correctly according to the basic technique. Sometimes this is necessary, so that you can place the blue and pink section correctly. Do not let yourself get too far backward though. Just start by undoing one piece at a time to help you. You should only have to move a couple of pieces to give yourself room to maneuver. When working in the blue and pink areas, think of putting the pieces in the correct order by rotating clockwise or counterclockwise.
Coordinate clues can be some of the most dangerous clues, as the clue may lead you into the Wilderness and to a fight with a Zamorak Wizard. ALWAYS make sure to bring your watch, sextant, and Navigation Chart.
The coordinate clues are based on a system where you need to move a certain distance north or south and then a certain distance east or west. The center of the system is the Observatory North of CastleWars. This coordinates for the center location are 00 degrees 00 min North/South and 00 degrees 00 min East/West. "Min" stands for minutes and each minute is represented in RuneScape by one walkable square. If you have a clue that says: "05 degrees 14 minutes South, 26 degree 09 minutes East". After gathering your items, you will need to move south from the observatory and then east.
How to Use the Sextant
To get the Sextant to provide you with your current location's exact coordinates, select 'Look-through' on your sextant and use the arrows to adjust the sun and the horizon in the viewing area, so that the both are centered. The arrows pointing up and down (numbers 2 and 3) will adjust the horizon displayed in the viewing area on the right. The arrows pointing left and right (numbers 4 and 5) will adjust the sun in the viewing area on the right. After you believe you have adjusted the sextant correctly, close the window and you will get a chat box that displays your current location's coordinates.

These clues will require you to perform one or two of the many emotes at a specific location, while also equipping specific items. You can also be equipping any other items, but you must have all the items specified by the clue. When you perform the correct emote while equipping the correct items, then Uri Molotov will appear and give you the next clue or casket.
The table below lists the emote clues along with the specific locations and items needed for the clue. There is also a list of some of the ways to obtain the items. If you choose not to make the required items yourself, you can always purchase them from other players or at the Grand Exchange. In any of the clues that tell of a Double Agent, you will need to fight a look alike of Uri Molotov. The Double agent level for clues leading to the wilderness will be level 65 and, for clues that lead to all other areas, it will be level 108. After you fight the Double agent, you will need to perform the emote again and Uri Molotov will appear instead.

This is a list of rare rewards you can get from finishing your Treasure Trail clues. Low level clues will give lower level rewards and High level clues will give higher level rewards. The table below shows the rare rewards that are ONLY found by doing a Treasure Trail clue (beside purchasing this from another player). Some of the other items you may receive are random axes, picks, gold, gems, flatpacks, and various Runes.

When used on a Log, you will get a colored log. When you burn this colored log, you will always succeed in lighting it and it will turn the flames the color of the firelighter. You receive 50 Firemaking XP for burning the colored logs. Depending on the level of the clue you will receive a certain amount of these items. When you have collected all four pages, you can insert them in the corresponding damaged god book, received from the Horror from the Deep Quest to receive extra prayer stat bonuses. You can also preach from them. Depending on the level of the clue you will receive a certain amount of these page. |
